For Song of the Year 2019; “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X is the song you couldn’t escape, and honestly why would you want to? “I went into the realm of a loner cowboy, needing to run away from everything, but I also wanted to put it with what was on the rise, which is the whole meme culture — plus actually making it a listenable, catchy song.” Lil Nas X tells Apple Music. The viral song was the most played song of the year and was welcomed by all listeners. Whenever you went and heard the beginning chords of the “Old Town Road”, you knew that you were going to sing along.

“An Award That Is Uniquely Apple” – A perfect description of the award that the recipients will be given.

“Each award features Apple’s custom silicon wafer suspended between a polished sheet of glass and a machined and anodized aluminum body. The wafers start as a perfect 12-inch disc of silicon with nanometer level flatness. Copper layers are deposited and patterned by ultraviolet lithography to create connections between billions of transistors. The result of this multi-month process, before it is sliced into hundreds of individual chips, is stunning and distinctive. In a symbolic gesture, the same chips which power the devices that put the world’s music at your fingertips sit at the very heart of the Apple Music Awards.”

The blend of the beautiful craftsmanship, stunning details, and overwhelming sentiment all tied together in one award; what else could you ask for?
