EXCLUSIVE | JESSIA Shares New EP Track By Track

By  |

Canadian pop singer & songwriter JESSIA presents her new EP, Okay With Every Part.

Independently released, Okay With Every Part wields the singer’s sharp lyricism and powerhouse vocals to take listeners on a journey of growth and change throughout 6 tracks.

Losing a label and a relationship within the span of 3 months shook me,” JESSIA shared about her recent journey. “I felt shame, rejection, anger, frustration, but also freedom, adventure, passion, and resilience. As much as I didn’t want to, I had to learn to accept and move through these new obstacles. Each song on this project represents a pivotal moment in my journey to finding peace and confidence again. This EP represents me accepting the good and bad parts of life so that I can look back and say, I’m okay with every part.”

Exclusively for Stage Right Secrets, the JUNO Award-winning pop songstress shared more about each of the six tracks.

1. “Different People”

“Different People” is about how obsessed we can feel when we’re cutting ties with someone. You go from talking all the time to suddenly having no idea where they are or what they’re doing, and your mind always assumes the worst. It’s easy to spiral and start thinking about them with someone else, forgetting about you. It’s the stage of the breakup that drives me more insane, so I wrote a song about it to help myself get through it!

2. “Friends With My Friends”

“Friends With My Friends” is about dealing with an ex who is still a part of your friend group. When I break up with someone, I typically never want to see or hear from them again, but in this particular case, I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t just escape them. Every time I see them it would bring up all sorts of emotions, but I haven’t had the heart to tell them… I hope they hear this song and get the hint.

3. “He’s A 10”

“He’s A 10” was written for my friend who has trash taste in men. She always goes for these hot guys that treat her horribly. Ladies, please listen to this song! We deserve so much better than this!

4. Care About Me”

I wrote this song when I was at one of my lowest points. I felt unseen and unheard. This was my cry for help. As heartbreaking as it was to experience and write, this is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.

5. “Happy With You”

This song is the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s the hope and belief that things will get better. They have to! I love to blast this song in my car whenever I need a mood booster.

6. “The Woman You Are”

“The Woman You Are” is such a special song to me. It’s about the most important woman in my life, my mom. I wouldn’t be where I am today, nor would I be the woman I am today, if it weren’t for her. This was my thank you song to her for being such an incredible mom. YAY FOR MOMS!
