Wet Leg Wins Best Alternative Music Album at 2023 Grammys

Wet Leg took home the Best Alternative Music Album award at the 2023 Grammys for their self titled album.

On Sunday, February 5, Music’s Biggest Night returned to Los Angeles and was held at Crypto.com arena. Prior to the main telecast aired on CBS and Paramount+, the pre-show was held where the majority of awards were given, including the Best Alternative Music Album.

The band was on hand to accept the award and they thanked the fans, collaborators, and more. Wet Leg also won Best Alternative Music Performance for “Chaise Lounge” prior to this award.

Nominees in this category included WE by Arcade Fire, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You by Big Thief, Fossora by Björk, and Cool It Down by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The other Alternative category, Best Alternative Music Performance, featured nominees in both categories. Arctic Monkeys were acknowledged for “There’d BEtter Be a Mirrorball” while “Certainly” by Big Thief was considered. Additionally, “King” from Florence and The Machine and “Chase Lounge” By Wet Leg were also nominated.

Beyond Alternative Music at the 2023 Grammys

For 2023, The Recording Academy added six new categories, bringing the total to 91 categories.

Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, and Best Song for Social Change have been added. Additionally, Best Alternative Music Performance, Best Americana Performance and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album were also created.

If fans want to see other alternative winners, tune in to the pre-telecast on the Grammy’s website and their YouTube channel. Furthermore, fans can tune in to the main telecast on CBS, the network’s app, and Paramount+.also watch it via Hulu’s Live TV package on FUBOTV.

Trevor Noah will host the telecast for the third year in a row and also act as co-producer.

Beyoncé leads with the most nominations with nine. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar is nominated eight times this year with Adele and Brandi Carlile tied at seven apiece.
