Brandi Carlile Wins Best Rock Performance at 2023 Grammys For ‘Broken Horses’

Brandi Carlile took home the Best Rock Performance honor for “Broken Horses” at the 2023 Grammys.

On Sunday, February 5, 2023, the 65th annual awards show took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Prior to the CBS main telecast, the premiere ceremony took place to honor the majority of winners, including the rock categories.

Carlile was on hand to accept her award during which she thanked her family, loved ones, and fans. She later won Best Rock Song for “Broken Horses” as well.

  • “Old Man” by Beck
  • “Wild Child” by The Black Keys
  • “Broken Horses” by Brandi Carlile
  • “Crawl!” by Idles
  • “Patient Number 9” by Ozzy Osbourne Featuring Jeff Beck
  • “Holiday” by Turnstile

Grammys and Other Rock Nominees

The two other rock categories this year included Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Turnstile, Brandi Carlile, The War on Drugs, and Ozzy Osbourne featuring Jeff Beck were nominated.

Additionally, Best Rock Album nominees included Dropout Boogie by The Black Keys and The Boy Named If by Elvis Costello & The Imposters. Crawler by Idles and Mainstream Sellout by Machine Gun Kelly was also honored. Finally, Patient Number 9 by Ozzy Osbourne and Lucifer On The Sofa by Spoon were in this category.

Everything About The 2023 Grammy Awards

The Recording Academy added six new categories for 2023 to make a total of 91 categories.

The new categories included Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, and Best Song for Social Change have been added. Additionally, Best Alternative Music Performance, Best Americana Performance and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album were also invented.

This year, Beyoncé leads the pack with the most nominations with nine. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar is nominated eight times this year with Adele and Brandi Carlile tied at seven each.
