Nina Dobrev Reunites With ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Cast, Returns to Mystic Falls A.K.A. Covington, Ga.

Nina Dobrev has made her return to Mystic Falls more than six years after The Vampire Diaries ended.

On Dec. 1, 2023, the Sick Girl actress returned to the Georgia town, known for its film sets, to Epic Cons‘ I Was Feeling Festive event. This marked the first convention pertaining to the show since she left The CW show as Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce/Amara in Season 6. TVD fans were feeling the nostalgia with non-stop social media content from their favorite actors all together, once again.

Over the three days of the convention, Nina Dobrev spoke in panels with several former The Vampire Diaries cast mates including Paul Wesley, Arielle Kebbel, among numerous others. Prior to the convention, Dobrev teased fans with a video of her “finding her phone” with appearances from Wesley, Michael Trevino, Kat Graham, Candice King, etc.

While back in Mystic Falls, Nina Dobrev stopped by the famous clock tower next to the Mystic Grill, the restaurant and the show and an eatery in real life. She took a TikTok video of her outfit for the day while posing for the camera.

The Vampire Diaries was able to produce two other spinoff series, The Originals and Legacies. Although Nina Dobrev never made an appearance on Legacies, some of the cast babysat her dog, Mrs. Maverick, backstage while she answered fan questions in a panel.

During the sold out three-day convention, Nina took part in three panels with the former cast. One of the standout moments was when she spoke about how much the camaraderie between her and the female cast meant to her. This included Sara Canning (Aunt Jenna), Candice King (Caroline Forbes), Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) and executive producer Julie Plec.

“I’ve just been looking on this stage the whole time… looking at all of you women,” she began. “At one point or another over the years [I’ve admired you]. Especially at the beginning when we first started the show, I learned and looked up to every single one of you. You’re all such beautiful, intelligent, wonderful, funny, heartfelt, incredible human beings.”
