We Are Your Friends Chicago Premiere Recap!

By  |

IMG_9987CHICAGO, IL- SRS started off the day by going to a screening of Max Joseph’s We Are Your Friends (Warner Bros. out August 28th). We can confirm that it is not a good movie, it’s actually a spectacular representation of the electronic music culture and a millennial coming of age story. (We will post our review of the movie on the release date!)  After the hoards of mostly female fans who waited for hours to see the movie sat down, Max Joseph surprised the crowd and said he had two special guests. The screams for Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski were equivalent to fighter jets starting up while standing by the turbine. They introduced the movie and took photos with fans before leaving for the after party.

IMG_9995The after party was held at The Mid, walking up to the venue there was a line for blocks of eager fans. Luckily we had a chance to sit down with Zac, Emily, Max, and Them Jeans (the DJ who taught Zac everything he knows.)

First question I had for him was how good of a student Zac was and Them Jeans (a.k.a. Jason Stewart) assured me he got an A+. The cast was nothing but warm and welcoming and had an obvious chemistry between the director, mentor, and actors. The party started with performances from Keys N Krates, Anna Lunoe, and Hook N Sling. The night consisted of great food, drinks, and tons of confetti. They even had a photo booth which took gifs instead of photos.

IMG_9989Zac, Emily, Max, and Them Jeans all took the stage throwing shirts out to the crowd. They showed off their moves and Zac even did a bit of spinning himself. It was a fantastic night filled with great music and people. Be sure to check out our interview with the cast coming soon, and go see We Are Your Friends out August 28th.
