Ms. Lauryn Hill & The Fugees epic return to San Francisco

By  |

On November 17th the San Francisco Bay Area was lit up with excitement to finally get the opportunity to see Ms. Lauryn Hill and The Fugees at the Chase Center. This show was special for two reasons, not only was it in celebration of Ms. Lauryn Hill’s 25th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album, which was performed in full, but it was also the return of The Fugees. The show was broken up into two sets, first was Ms. Lauryn Hill performing Miseducation in its entirety with a full band, and the second half of the show The Fugees came on stage to continue performing with Ms. Lauryn Hill. There was a little fear leading up to this show that it would get cancelled as Ms. Lauryn Hill has unfortunately been dealing with some serious vocal strain and had to cancel other shows on this tour. Luckily the show did go on and not only did she sound incredible, but the fans had an amazing time and got to witness an incredible show. Ms. Lauryn Hill walked out on stage with a large fuzzy hat that blocked most of her face and a pair of sunglasses, she did end up keeping the hat on the entire show but did take her glasses off at one point, she also switched jackets and went from bedazzled gloves to a large sparkly turtleneck. Although her face was hard to see most of the night she did move her hat from time to time to look out at the crowd and talk a bit. Overall the performance covered 22 songs between songs by The Fugees, Ms. Lauryn Hill and a few cover songs sprinkled in. The fans had a great time throughout the show and of course everyone screamed along to classics like ‘Doo Wop (that thing,)’ the cover of ‘Can’t Take My Eye’s off of You,’ and some of The Fugee tracks like, ‘Fu-Gee-La’ and ‘Ghetto Superstar.’ The full set list for the night was as follows:
