Luke Bryan Reacts to ‘Thicc as Thieves’ By Lauren Alaina and Lainey Wilson
Luke Bryan shared his reaction to “Thicc as Thieves,” which samples one of his hits.
Before his CMA Fest headlining performance at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, the country crooner spoke backstage with the media. During the press conference, he was asked about Lainey Wilson and Lauren Alaina sampling his song. Their duet, “Thicc as Thieves,” features “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” and acts as a response to people commenting about their derrieres. The track was released on Alaina’s Unlocked EP.
“Well, there’s a song out there — what’s it called? ‘Girls Is Players Too,’ right?” Bryan said with a chuckle, referencing the song, “Players,” by Coi Leray.
“I love it. I was very flattered that they asked me to kind of have a part of it,” Bryan continued.
“When you look at Lainey and what she’s doing for country music… I mean, I think Lainey is just so great for country music,” he praised. “And I’ve been a fan of Lauren Alaina. She has one of the best voices in the world.”
Luke Bryan on ‘Thicc as Thieves’
At the end of the day, Luke Bryan knows that “Thicc as Thieves” is a “fun song for them,” similar to his 2011 hit. He respects the women for “having fun being who they are as artists.”
“‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ was a fun song for me. It was a fun song for the country girls out there that were shaking it. And their song is a fun song for the girls that got a little something to shake,” he shared. “I think we’ve all seen the socials light up about Lainey.”
Additionally, Luke Bryan reiterated that country music will always be about the “relatable songs that stir your heart.” But at the same time, “there’s also gotta be a fun aspect of country music, too.”
“That’s what’s so beautiful about when they can go for a song like that, and it can be girls’ turns to say that stuff. It’s awesome,” he concluded.
