Halsey Fights Her Ego In New Music Video
If there’s one thing Halsey excels at, it’s multitasking, and the music video for their new single, ‘Ego,’ is a perfect example of that.
Today (September 6), the 29-year-old debuted their new song “Ego,” along with its accompanying, 90’s-inspired music video, which the artist wrote, directed and also starred in.
In the video, the artist plays the two main characters, who are the opposite of one another: while one is all glammed up wearing long, straight hair and a black dress, the other is seen sporting short spiky hair, a makeup-free face, and a tuxedo. Throughout the video, the pair, who fans quickly dubbed as Ashley (the artist’s real name) and Halsey (her alter-ego), are seen fighting each other by any means possible.

“Ego” is the third official single from Halsey’s upcoming fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, set to release on Oct. 25. Earlier this week, the three-time Grammy nominee shared the album’s main cover art, along with four variants, each of which corresponds to a decade (70’s, 80’s, 90’s, y2k).
The Great Impersonator marks Halsey’s first album since 2021’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. The project features “Ego,” as well as the previously released tracks “The End,” “Lucky” and “Lonely Is the Muse.” The countdown, published on Spotify, announces that an additional 14 tracks will complete the standard edition of the record.
The Great Impersonator is available now for Pre-Order.
