Exclusive: Drei Ros’ New Music is “LIT”

By  |

Romanian born Drei Ros is gearing up for an album next month. His latest single “LIT” is a pretty darn great description in and of itself to describe the future for this upcoming mega star!

How would you best describe your sound?
I would describe my sounds as a mixture of a few different styles. It really just depends on the song. I always strive to create new things and new styles so my sound is always changing.

What’s the story behind your new song “LIT”?
One night, months ago, it was my good friends birthday at the Playhouse in Hollywood. It was one of the most live nights I have had in a long time and I was giving my full attention to
my project. I remember the whole night and how there were positive vibes and high energy. With that feeling, I had felt the only word that could embody and describe it was LIT. After that night, I started working on the concept of putting that feeling into a song without making it over complicated. Thus, LIT was born.

Full length album will be released in October. Congratulations! What made you decide on the title “Excuse My Accent”?
“Excuse My Accent” in a way is my introduction. My first impression to the world of hip hop with this album and I wanted to really give listeners an in depth view of my life and motivations. Music has always been my passion and coming from a foreign country, sometimes translating my own story is hard to do. With this album, I wanted to speak in the universal language of music and with that, an introduction to new fans and new people that my music reaches. I say “excuse my accent”.

How has your home country of Romania influenced your music and compare to the U.S.?
Romania has taught me many things and with that, I have been able to become the person that I am today. The music of Romania is my roots so without that I wouldn’t have the growth that I have today as an artist in the U.S.

Your album will be in English and Spanish, incredible. Any possibility to release music in Romanian or any other languages?
I have a lot of things planned for the future. I can say something of that nature could be more than a possibility.

Is there a chance to do some live shows with the album release?
I have many live shows in the works for when the album release, with the type of music on the album, i feel the crowds at my shows will be diverse and everyone is sure to have a good time.

While in Romania, you played basketball professionally. When did you realize music was your dream?
I don’t think there was a moment in where music wasn’t my dream. I feel people have multiple dreams and life has a way of putting you into positions in where you can choose to focus your energy into one thing if you decide to. In this case, it was music and I’m very happy with that choice.

Who would be some of your dream collaborators? You’ve already worked with a lot of crazy cool talent.
My dream collaborators would be Drake, Migos, and probably Post Malone. There are many more that I would love to work with, but I guess only the future can tell what will all come together.

Lastly, what Romanian foods do wish Americans would try?

One of my favorite things to eat while growing up was sarmale. Its cabbage rolls with a lot of unique Romanian flavors. I remember having this back to back. I would recommend any food connoisseurs to get on top of this as soon as possible. It will change your life.
