1989 to break 1.3 million?

By  |

As we posted previously, Taylor Swift looks like she’ll do it again – break the 1 million mark in record sales in the first week, that is.

Her 2010 and 2012 albums, Speak Now and Red, both broke that mark in their first week (1.05 and 1.21 respectively) so those numbers aren’t out of the question for the pop star. It’s currently estimated to do 1.2 or 1.3 million, which is quite a difference from the originally predicted 750,000 in the weeks before the album’s release.

If she does break the 1 million in 1 week mark, as it looks like she will, she’ll be the first artist in 2014 to do so, and she’ll also be the first artist to have three releases that broke 1 million in a week. She’ll also be reaffirming her place on the list – Red was the last album to have hit that mark. If she breaks 1.3 million, she’ll be the first artist to do so since Eminem in 2002. She’ll also be at the second spot on the top-selling albums of 2014 list, only topped by the 2013-released Frozen soundtrack.

The numbers are released Wednesday through SoundScan – we’ll update you with her final tally then. We’re rooting for you, Swift!
