YOUTUBER SPOTLIGHT: Marisa Valentine!

Marisa is a 19 year old YouTube artist who found her passion for music at the ripe age of 6 years old. Some of Marisa’s influences have been, The Story So Far, The Maine, Brand New, Ed Sheeran and Emarosa. When asked about that start of her passion for music, she said, “I sang in our Sunday school choir and I was the loudest and most enthusiastic out of all of the kids. One of the ladies at church told my mom that she should look into putting me in music lessons and it all grew from there.”

Marisa began making YouTube cover videos when she was in eighth grade as a way to show her family and friends music abilities. YouTube an outlet that enabled her to open her musical talent to a bigger audience was never her conscious goal, although she was excited how it came about. Marisa said, “I didn’t really realize at first that it could be a
pretty good gateway to spreading my music to more than just my family and friends but once I did, I began to upload more content and tried harder to fine tune my videos. It’s a really great and easy way to really get your music out there.”

Now that Marisa has gained a larger audience of YouTube viewers, she has released covers of I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket by Pierce The Veil, Sleepwalking by Bring Me The Horizon as well as a few more. She’s discovered that many people are interested in what she is uploading to her channel. When asked about the responses to her covers, she said, “I’ve had an exceptional amount of positive feedback from my viewers! It makes me really happy and motivates me to see that
people really enjoy my covers.” Marisa has taken this feedback and continued to work hard on her covers for her viewers. Not only has Marisa been posting covers, she also plans to release original music on her channel this coming summer.
