The Maine Release Empowering New Music Video!

By  |

Arizona native rock band The Maine has just dropped a new music video with a special message- they say that we’re all pretty. The latest single from their full length American Candy is titled “Am I Pretty?” and this music video proves just that. The bring in different people to talk about reasons why others made them feel like they aren’t pretty and their song plays over the stories. At the end of the video the speakers are brought out once again and they talk about how even though everyone looks different, and some may label others as not pretty, their is beauty in their flaws and it’s what makes them special.

The video is empowering and encourages everyone to feel comfortable with themselves and not listen to others. Lead singer John Ohh commented on the video on Instagram saying “You are beautiful because your eyes are different sizes and your lisp gets in between your tongue and teeth every time you try to say “something”. You are beautiful because the scar under your chin looks like a spider and because you have a massive fear of heights. You are beautiful because there never has been, nor will there every be anyone else on this Earth like you. Because your flaws are like fingerprints and should be embraced just like the free will that resides inside. You are not beautiful because of the symmetry in the little squares on your telephone, you are beautiful because “you” are the only “you” this place will ever know.”

The Maine is wrapping up their co-headlining American Lines tour with Mayday Parade and also just announced that they will be on the Vans Warped Tour all summer long! Check out the video below and grab your tickets to the punk rock festival to catch their live set!
