RAYE Celebrates Grammy Nominations and Reflects on Performance at 2025 Awards
British singer-songwriter RAYE experienced a career-defining moment at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 2, 2025, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. Nominated for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), she expressed overwhelming gratitude for the recognition, calling it a lifelong dream realized. “Oh gosh, I think first of all, the way they’ve designed that trophy is just so brilliant, isn’t it? It’s just so beautiful,” she said, reflecting on the significance of the Grammys. “Before I die, I want to win one—like, that’s on my bucket list, pretty high up.”
For RAYE, being acknowledged for both her songwriting and artistry is a testament to years of dedication. “When I was about 15, I really dedicated my life to two separate careers—you know, the endeavor of songwriting and the endeavor of becoming an artist. And it was an even pouring of passion into each career for me,” she explained. The nominations validated her extensive work behind the scenes, helping to shape other artists’ music while also pursuing her own artistic journey. “It’s a beautiful thing to have been recognized for all the love and hours and hard work that I’ve poured into other artists… and then my own.”
Raye on 2025 Grammy Performance
In addition to her nominations, RAYE is set to take the stage in a performance. “The stage is exceptionally intimidating… I’m a British girl performing on America’s biggest musical stage. That in itself is kind of a joke,” she admitted. Wanting to make the most of the moment, she pushed the boundaries of her stage production. “I’ve pushed my limit of how many people I’m allowed on the stage… The Grammys have been so accommodating to let us have lots of brilliant music up there.” Despite the nerves, RAYE was determined to give her all. She knew that once she hit her final note, she could finally relax and celebrate. “The second it’s done, I’m going to breathe, have a drink, and take it all in.”
Beyond the awards and performance, RAYE also shared her deep concern for the recent Los Angeles wildfires, which impacted many, including her own neighborhood. “What’s happened is devastating… Global warming and the climate crisis are scary, and I really hope these things won’t become more common, but maybe they will,” she reflected. She emphasized the importance of community in times of crisis. “All the neighbors around our area had to be evacuated. But they were helping each other—hosing down houses, looking out for one another. Humanity really has to be first and foremost in these moments.” As she soaked in her unforgettable night at the Grammys, RAYE remained grounded in gratitude. “I always feel very inspired watching the Grammys… it just inspires me to keep dreaming.”
