Lainey Wilson Embraces Grammy Spotlight with Best Country Album Nomination for Whirlwind

By  |

Lainey Wilson‘s Grammy Awards nomination and performances mark yet another milestone in her skyrocketing career. Nominated for Best Country Album for Whirlwind, Wilson is stepping into the awards show as both a nominee and performer.

“It’s really crazy for me to wrap my head around being invited, much less nominated, much less winning last year,” Wilson shared. “And now getting to perform—it just keeps getting better and better. I don’t know how that happens.”

Wilson, who took home Best Country Album in 2024 for Bell Bottom Country, acknowledges the deeper significance of a Grammy nod. “A Grammy nomination and a win, to me, means that that nine-year-old little girl that had these big old dreams was right,” she said. “And also, just having the respect of your peers and the people that you look up to—the ones that are voting—it means a lot.”

This year’s ceremony will highlight the heroic efforts of first responders battling the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. “I am very honored to be a part of this year’s show. Especially because they are shining a light on the First Responders for the fires,” she said. “My heart’s been breaking for a lot of my friends who have had friends affected. It feels really nice to be part of a good cause.”

A Star-Studded Tribute to Quincy Jones

Beyond her nomination, Wilson is set to take the Grammy stage for a performance she describes as thrilling. “Performing on the Grammy stage is terrifying—it’s scary, but it’s also awesome,” she admitted. “It’s cool for me to be able to represent country music on a stage that has so many different types of music and so many people from different walks of life.”

Wilson is also participating in the highly anticipated Quincy Jones tribute, an opportunity she holds in high regard. “I’m not going to tell you what song I’m doing, but I’m very proud to be a part of that. Very proud to be on stage with such talented musicians,” she teased. “It’s really cool to step outside of the box for a second and do something that I don’t normally do.”

And for those eager to know more about her solo performance, Wilson left fans with a cryptic hint. “I would say that I’m doing a song that is a Louisiana saying. I’ll just leave it at that.”

With a Grammy nomination, performance, and tribute all in one night, Lainey Wilson’s Whirlwind era is living up to its name—sweeping through the industry with unstoppable momentum.
