The 2024 Grammys for Best Alternative Music Album goes to Boygenius for The Record!

On Sunday, February 4, the 66th Annual Grammy Awards took place. Prior to the CBS telecast, the premiere ceremony took place at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. During the pre-ceremony, winners were announced for numerous categorie sincluding Best Alternative Music Album.

Grammy Awards History In Alternative Music

The Arctic Monkeys’ history at the Grammy Awards began in 2007. The British rock band was nominated for their debut album, “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,” The record earned them nominations for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor.” The Arctic Monkeys continued to make their mark on the Grammy stage, winning the award for Best Album Package in 2019 for “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.”

Lana Del Rey received her first Grammy nomination in 2013 for Best Pop Vocal Album with her major-label debut “Born to Die.” Over the years, Lana Del Rey has received multiple Grammy nominations, including recognition for her albums “Ultraviolence” and “Lust for Life.” Although she has been nominated 11 times, she has yet to secure a Grammy win.

Gorillaz self-titled debut album earned them a nomination for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the standout track “Clint Eastwood” in 2002. It wasn’t until 2006 that they secured their first Grammy win for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for “Feel Good Inc.” featuring De La Soul.
