KiNG MALA debuted her latest single, “Devotion.”

On Friday, April 4, KiNG MALA, real name Areli Castro, released her new track. This marked the third release from her upcoming debut album, And You Who Drowned In The Grief Of A Golden Thing. The record is set for release on May 2, 2025.

“DEVOTION is a song about the parallels between what we as women do for men, how
we twist and contort our personalities to please them; and what we do for God,” Castro said. “I found it
fascinating when I really looked at the two, there was really no difference. Both religion
and the patriarchy ask you to remove your autonomy, ignore your instincts and give in
to a blind faith that after you’ve given every part of yourself, you will be taken care of by
a higher power. This is also a song about being fully immersed in an obsession with pleasing and being devoted to something that wants you to give everything you are to it. I know there is a comfort in releasing all sense of self in order to please something or someone you love, but at what cost?”

After she releases her debut album, KiNG will hit the road. She will be supporting Lights on her
A(live) Again North American Tour this summer.
