What is the story behind your latest single?
“Letters” was written because I was getting so frustrated with the model of online dating and connecting via a picture and a couple of sentences at best. I know it’s worked for so many people, but it wasn’t and hasn’t worked for me. Which can cause a disconnect between expectation and reality and that place is hard, but it’s also where my songs tend to come out of.

When did you realize music was your calling?
I don’t think I have. Ha! I think I’ve realized that music helps me make sense of the world and make sense of what’s going on in my head at the moment. I’m just grateful there are people out there that enjoy listening to my point of view. And at the end of the day, I think we’re all called to share with others and learn from others. Music just does that through the method of melody and rhythm.

How would you best describe your sound?
Pop/Soul/Rock with a tinge of Blues.

What do you hope listeners take away from your music?
That they’re not alone. That’s what the best music does for me and I hope to share that feeling with others. A pay-it-forward kind of thing.

Who are your dream collaborators?
Hans Zimmer, Dave Grohl, and Sia

Is there a possibility to perform your new music live?
I play pretty regularly around town in Tulsa, OK. So if you’re ever in the area, look me up. Working on tours in Texas and the MidWest! But the song is pretty similar to what we (the Midnight Sun and I) do live. I intentionally wanted the sound we play live on the single.

What are some albums that really shaped you as an artist?
The Outsiders – NEEDTOBREATHE
Kaleidoscope Heart – Sara Bareilles
21 – Adele

What are some of your contenders for best song of 2019?
Bury a Friend by Billie Eilish
Juice by Lizzo
Probably a song off of Taylor Swift’s album that we haven’t heard yet.
