MTV Unplugged Returns With Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett

By  |

In case you thought for a second that you could ever get enough of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, MTV Unplugged comes to play!

First aired in 1989, MTV Unplugged is a series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. Although the show aired regularly from 1989 to 2009, it has since aired occasionally, sometimes online only. In 2020, the show made its big comeback with a total of 15 episodes, with guests ranging from JoJo, to Monsta X, to Miley Cyrus.

Due to the COVID-19 health crisis and the lack of possibility to film anything in 2020, the show had only aired one episode in 2021: their February 23 special featuring KPop group BTS.

But MTV hadn’t said their last words, and they just announced the return of the show this December, featuring special guests Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett.

MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga was filmed earlier this year in front of an intimate New York audience. The episode will make its MTV premiere at 9PM ET on Thursday, December 16 as part of MTV’s ‘Love Music With MTV’ series, which will run throughout December. The episode marks music legend Tony Bennett’s second time on the show, following his very successful first appearance in 1994.

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have been working together for over a decade, starting with her appearance on his Duets II album in 2011. They then recorded two additional albums together: Cheek To Cheek released back in 2014, and Love For Sale which was released last month. The pair recently received six Grammy nominations for their new collaboration, including Album and Record of the Year.
