Jamie Lee Curtis Accepts Disney Legend Award: Watch
Jamie Lee Curtis accepted her Disney Legend award tonight!
The awards ceremony took place at the Honda Center on Sunday (August 11) this evening. This ceremony is during 2024 D23 Expo, a bi-annual event that covers every facet of The Walt Disney Company. Lindsay Lohan and Jodie Foster presented Curtis with the award.
Logan told the audience, “The magic of Jamie Lee Curtis is that she’s timeless. Every character she plays is different. She always brings something unique to the roles.”
“You just mentioned, the ‘Disney’ in you and me. It’s the Disney in all of us, that’s why we’re here,” Curtis told the cheering crowd.

On Friday (August 9), Curtis and Lindsay Lohan presented at the Disney Entertainment showcase. They teased their Freaky Friday sequel to an excited audience. The acting mother-daughter duo confirmed the sequel’s title, Freakier Friday.

D23 Expo 2024 will conclude with the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony at the Honda Center. Fourteen people will be honored for their work and impact on Disney’s overall legacy. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the event promises special guests and surprise performances that are sure to leave a lasting impression. This grand Hollywood spectacle honors key figures in Disney’s history for their contributions to storytelling and innovation. Fans who missed out can catch the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony on Disney+ this Monday, August 12, at 5 PM ET.
Honorees this year, included people from several disciplines. This included entertainers such as Miley Cyrus, Angela Bassett, and Harrison Ford. Director James Cameron and Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde will also become legends. Other new Disney Legends include Colleen Atwood, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, Steve Ditko, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, and John Williams.
“To be named a Disney Legend is the highest honor our company can bestow on anyone, reserved for those whose talent and achievement have earned them an enduring place in our history,” said Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “The fourteen individuals to be honored as Disney Legends this year have each made extraordinary creative contributions across the worlds of Disney and we look forward to celebrating them at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.”

Jamie Lee’s casting as the iconic “Scream Queen” Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s classic thriller Halloween (1978) cemented her trajectory as a bona fide movie star. Over her career, the Oscar winner has demonstrated her versatility with a variety of captivating roles, including suburban housewife-turned-international-spy Helen Tasker in True Lies (1994) and no-nonsense mom Tess Coleman in Disney’s remake of the classic body-swap comedy Freaky Friday (2003). In 2023, Jamie Lee returned to both Disney and the macabre genre to portray the legendary Madame Leota in Haunted Mansion, inspired by the classic Disneyland theme park attraction.
She is the author of 13 best-selling books that explore core childhood issues. Additionally, Curtis is the founder and CEO of My Hand in Yours. This is a charitable organization that offers comfort and celebratory gifts, with 100% of every sale donated directly to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Jamie Lee has received a British Academy Film Award, two Golden Globes, and nominations for a Primetime Emmy and a Grammy. She recently won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022).
