Introducing: The Rua

By  |

Pop/folk and the UK almost go hand in hand. When you think of pop/folk you almost instantly think of a British band or group. Well introducing one of the UK’s newest pop/folk bands- The Rua.

Consisting of 3 members all brothers and sisters and all classically trained. You have Roseanna (vocals, guitar), Alanna (piano, vocals), and Jonathan Brown (violin, guitar, vocals). These kids are starting to gain major attention across the pond.

Their single “Without You” was #4 most added on HOT AC radio. And for the music video they received some help from director Declan Whitebloom, who has worked with Taylor Swift and Jess Glynne. The video takes us through a continuous shot of the band members as they are writing, recording, promoting and playing their music. It’s simplicity grabs the viewers attention with the help of bright colors in a cardboard world. The song has it’s own spirit too, with attention grabbing lyrics and a voice that makes you want to hear more.

The band’s debut album called Essence (OUT NOW), ties into their band name “The Rua”. It comes from the Hebrew word Ruah, which means “essence of a group”. After listening to this album and watching their music video this band has an essence that will keep them around for a long time.
