‘Daddy’s Mugshot’ Lyrics By Laci Kaye Booth

Laci Kaye Booth debuted her latest single, “Daddy’s Mugshot,” are you ready to learn the lyrics to sing along?

On Friday, May 28, Booth released the track inspired by a real life event. The premiere comes on the eve of Booth making her official debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. This also marked her first release since her debut album, The Loneliest Girl In The World and the Acoustic Sessions. The tune was written by Booth and produced by Ben West.

“I wrote this song after I was scrolling on Facebook and saw my dad’s mugshot going around,” Booth shared. “I started writing about him, my life, the curse passed down to me and trying to ‘make it’ in Nashville.”

Be sure to catch Laci Kaye Booth on tour this summer at Sand In My Boots and North of Nowhere music festivals. She’ll also be supporting Megan Moroney and Parker McCollum on select tour dates.

Daddy’s Mugshot Lyrics By Laci Kaye Booth

When I was younger

I thought he was a god with a guitar

Mama was a bombshell

With her hand on her hip

Standing outside the trailer park

Every time he’d vanish

& I the angel he’d banish

Now I’m a little too Texas for Tennesee

I smiled in the picture

But I was grittin’ my teeth

They found bitter in my bones

When they broke this show pony

Said I’d be a star

Hell, they don’t even know me

What runs in the blood

Ain’t ever gonna stop

I might look like my mama

But I smile like my daddy’s mugshot

I made a record

That didn’t break no records

Only my soul

I ran my mouth

And I swore up and down

That I’d pack all my shit and go home

Oh, I should’ve known

I’m a little too Texas for Tennesee

I smiled in the picture

But I was grittin’ my teeth

They found bitter in my bones

When they broke this show pony

Said I’d be a star

Hell, they don’t even know me

What runs in the blood

Ain’t ever gonna stop

I might look like my mama

But I smile like my daddy’s mugshot

Yeah, I wouldn’t kiss the ring Wouldn’t get down on my knees When they kicked me out the door I could hear em saying she’s

A little too Texas for Tennesee I smiled in the picture

But I was grittin’ my teeth

They found bitter in my bones When they broke this show pony Said I’d be a star

Hell, they don’t even know me What runs in the blood

Ain’t ever gonna stop

I might look like my mama

But I smile like my daddy’s mugshot

Yeah, they’ll get their karma

And I’ll smile like my daddy’s mugshot
