Are you ready to discover the masterpiece that is the “Castles Crumbling” lyrics?

On July 7, Taylor Swift released the re-recording of her 2010 record, Speak Now. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) features some unreleased songs “from the vault.” The record includes two collaborations with Fall Out Boy and Paramore’s frontwoman. In an Instagram post ahead of the release, Williams wrote about Swift’s record.

“Taylor was the first industry friend I ever made and hung out with outside of work things,” she confessed. “When Speak Now dropped, I bought my friend’s record (as you do!) and listened to the whole thing in my first car, sitting still in the driveway. It’s my favorite Taylor Swift album for so many reasons.”

“I wish I could go back to this moment at my 21st birthday and tell her one day she’ll legitimately own Speak Now and we’ll get to sing together on one of the songs,” she concluded.

Along with the song itself, the duo also released a visually captivating lyric video.

Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams’ Friendship

Paramore served as the opening act for select dates on Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. However, their friendship goes back to 2009. During the Glendale, Arizona stop on March 17, Williams revealed to The Eras Tour crowd the beginning of their friendship. At the time, they were teenagers attending the Grammys functions at such a young age.

Williams met Swift’s mother, Andrea, who suggested that the pair meet. Mama Swift gave Williams her daughter’s phone number since they were near the same age and are in the Nashville music industry. At first, Williams was the “shyest freak” at the time and didn’t reach out initially. It was shortly after the 2009 MTV VMAs, where Kanye West infamously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech, when Williams reached out to her.

“I did not text her until a certain VMA scandal. That was the first time that I felt like, ‘I have to reach out because this person is really cool and did not deserve that,'” she explained. She said that she and her fellow band members have enjoyed watching Swift’s “trajectory” to superstardom.

‘Castles Crumbling’ Lyrics From Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams

[Verse 1- Taylor Swift]
Once I had an empire in a golden age
I was held up so high, I used to be great
They used to cheer when they saw my face
Now, I fear I have fallen from grace

[Chorus- Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams]
And I feel like my castle’s crumbling down
And I watch all of my bridges burn to the ground
And you don’t want to know me / I will just let you down
You don’t wanna know me now

[Verse 2- Hayley Williams and Taylor Swift]
Once I was the great hope for a dynasty
Crowds would hang on my words and they trusted me
Their faith was strong, but I pushed it too far
I held that grudge ’til they tore me apart

[Pre-Chorus- Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams]
Power went to my head and I couldn’t stop
Ones I loved tried to help, so I ran them off
And here I sit alone behind walls of regret
Falling down like promises that I never kept

[Repeat Chorus- Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams]

[Post-Chorus- Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams]
Oh, oooh x 2
Oh (Ah, ah) x 2

[Verse 3- Taylor Swift]
My foes and friends watch my reign end
I don’t know how it could’ve ended this way
Smoke billows from my ships in the harbor
People look at me like I’m a monster
Now they’re screaming at the palace’s front gates
Used to chant my name
Now they’re screaming that they hate me
Never wanted you to hate me

[Repeat Chorus- Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams]

[Post-Chorus- Taylor Swift]
Oh, oooh x 2
Oh (Ah, ah) x 2
