EXCLUSIVE: Camylio On His Debut Album

By  |

A lot has happened since we last chatted with Camylio. It has been YEARS! He has toured, gone viral a handful of times, and FINALLY has his debut album out now.

So happy to be chatting again and about a debut album! What do you hope audiences take away from this release?

I hope audiences feel the honesty through the songs. The majority of these songs come from real stories, and I hope that means that people will see themselves in the songs too. This is the music I feel like I was always meant to make.

Since last time we chatted, you have done a lot more touring. How has the transition been from posting covers online to having a debut album and doing said tours?

It’s surreal, every day I wake up and can’t believe what this has become, I try to never lose touch with being grateful for it all. Playing live and meeting people is by far my favorite part of this entire thing. There is nothing more special in the entire world than having someone share their experiences, and tell you what your song means in their story. I’ll always be grateful for the early tiktok covers and beginning, but I really feel like I’m doing now what I was always meant to do.

Have to ask then, is there an opportunity to tour this album?

Yes, definitely. We’re working right now on routing as many places as we can get to on this next run. No official details yet, but I hope everyone knows that we’re going to do everything we can to get to as many cities as possible.

What advice would you give to someone trying to get attention from labels, etc. who is posting covers online?

Trust yourself. Spend the time to figure out who YOU are going to be as an artist. Artistry is more than a voice, and I think the hardest thing to figure out when singing other people’s songs is what your story is going to be. More than anything, make what you like and worry less about “what’s working.”

What’s the story behind the title, Take My Bones?

Take My Bones actually comes from the title of one of the songs on the album. It’s about the idea of wanting someone to just take and accept all of you, down to your bones. That devotion and borderline desperation felt like it captured the spirit of the album as a whole.

Do you have a favorite song on the album to be the next single?

There’s a song on there called “waterfall” that is one of my favorites I’ve ever done. I had had the vibe for that “kind of song” production and structure wise in the back of my head for a while, and the way the verse sets the stage and the chorus delivers on that has me so excited for people to hear it.

A lot of your songs have resonated deeply with the #BookTok and fantasy romance communities, not to mention Rebecca Yarros author of Four Wing uses your music, so we need to know, what are your favorite books?

The support I’ve gotten from Rebecca and the entire BookTok community has been truly insane, and I’m eternally grateful to have been so welcomed. If I had to pick for myself though, I think my favorite three books in general would have to be Normal PeopleThe Poppy War, and A Game Of Thrones!

Other than your music obviously, what do you think could be the song of the summer?

My Creative Director Zade and I have been obsessed with “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” by Raye, so I’m gonna go with that.
