LISTEN & LYRICS | Laura Bekaert (wtFOCK) – Falling

By  |

And so the infamous series Skam is back at it again!

The teen drama, that originates from Norway and has been remade in several countries including the United States, is famous for its format and its overall immersive experience. Each season is indeed cut into short clips that are posted on a real-time basis throughout the week over the span of ten weeks or so. Fans are also able to follow their favorite characters on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, for an account has been made for each of them.

This year, the Belgian version of the show, titled wtFOCK, has pushed the immersion yet a step further. Anaïs Davis, the main character of the seventh season of the remake, has indeed made her official debut on Spotify.

Portrayed by up-and-coming Belgian/Nigerian actress Laura Bekaert, Anaïs Davis is a character that really grows into her own skin during her season. During the finale, Anaïs performs live at a party with her girlfriend Bobbie De Bruyn (portrayed by Nell Cattrysse). The result of that collaboration, “Falling,” is a song that was actually written by musician Jasper Bullynck and performed live by Bekaert and Cattrysse during a real-life party held in Antwerp, Belgium on December 22nd, the very same day as the season finale.

Check out the song and its lyrics below!

LAURA BEKAERT (wtFOCK) – FALLING LYRICS

In the quiet night, I hear the whispers of your name
Now it’s an echo, a shadow that remains
We held on tight but somehow we lost our way
Now I’m left here, drowning in memories of yesterday,
Of yesterday,
Of yesterday

We danced through the fire, with the warmth on our skin
But time has a way of changing where we’ve been
When the laughter fades, and the tears, they start to flow
Empty space but no room left to grow,
No room left to grow,
No room left to grow

I’m falling, I’m falling through space
As I watch you slipping away, slipping away
I’m falling, I’m falling through space
As I watch you slipping away, slipping away

These faded echoes in the corner of my mind
Love that once burnt has changed light into dark
I search for your touch in every place that I have been
But all I find are these echoes deep within,
Deep within,
Deep within

Never thought we’d end up here
So far apart
But life has a way of breaking
Even the strongest hearts
I hold on to the memories
And the moments we shared
But these faded echoes are all that’s left
And it’s hard to bear

I’m falling, I’m falling through space
As I watch you slipping away, slipping away
I’m falling, I’m falling through space
As I watch you slipping away, slipping away
