The Aces Announce Sapphic Disco-Pop Album Gold Star Baby
Today, pop band The Aces announce their new album, Gold Star Baby, will be released on August 15 via SoundOn.
In concept, Gold Star Baby is a metaphorical club in every city where if you know…you know. Disco-pop that fills the Pussycat Dolls and Spice Girls shaped holes in our hearts, The Aces narrate the perfect night out, even if it’s just a glittery mirage of escapism. A celebration of queerness and pure pop fun, the largely self-produced album isn’t just an evolution for the 4-piece, but where they’ve been headed all along — Pre-save.
We also see the release of “You Got Me” today, the swooning, star-crossed third single from the album. The Aces look for the exact words to let someone know they’re head over heels for them. And by the end, they can’t help but repeat “I love you, babe” no matter the consequences — Stream.
The band shared: “This song is about that short and sweet period of time when you realize you’re in love but you’re not sure how to tell them. We wanted it to sound like the feeling of falling in love; warm, shimmery, bouncy and a little bit of nerves.”
If their 2023 album I’ve Loved You For So Long is the backstory behind discovering their identity, Gold Star Baby is in turn a celebration of showing up as the best version of yourself. It’s the same feeling as hitting the town with your closest group of friends, with the perfect buzz going, in the new outfit you’ve been scheming up to command any room you’re in. The Aces are able to shed the weight of the painful transparency they put into their last record and allow listeners to see the liberated other side of the coin.
Over the next few months, The Aces will be performing at Summerfest in Milwaukee and both All Things Go Festivals in New York and Washington DC. Keep an eye out for upcoming tour dates here.
ABOUT THE ACES:
So far evolved from who they were when they first began releasing music in 2017, The Aces deserve the sense of celebration they feel in their new music. With 3 albums, over 250 million streams, and countless other milestones under their belts, sisters Cristal and Alisa Ramirez (lead vocals/guitar and drums), Katie Henderson (lead guitar/vocals), and McKenna Petty (bass) are in full form working toward their 4th LP Gold Star Baby (out August 15 via SoundOn).
“The Magic” is The Aces “most confident single yet” (Dork Magazine), and with “Jealous” and “You Got Me” as their followup releases, they cement that they have no qualms with being the coolest ones in the room. Continuing to reach new pop heights, the band is rapidly becoming one of the genre’s most exciting and authentic voices.
The Aces have toured with the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, X Ambassadors, The Vamps, and COIN, and have played at festivals all over the world, including NY Pride, Lollapalooza, Firefly, Bonnaroo, OUTFEST, Sziget, Pukkelpop and more. During their 2023 headline tour they sold out the international run across the UK, Australia & Japan. In 2024, they opened for Chappell Roan at Kentucky Pride and supported Goth Babe on a US run. This summer they will open Summerfest for Benson Boone and cap off 2025 with the All Things Go festival, with more dates soon to be announced.
