Rob Williford Releases Album “Jonny & Jenny”

By  |

GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter, artist, and producer Rob Williford has officially released his long-awaited album Johnny & Jenny – and the accompanying short film by the same name (shot by award-winning videographer Dustin Haney) – both are now available to stream. The 14-song project, produced by Andy Park and recorded at Muscle Shoals’ iconic FAME Studios, marks a bold and cinematic leap into storytelling-driven country music, while the short film – which views like the pilot episode of your new favorite binge watch – deepens its narrative arc, weaving together themes of addiction, betrayal, and redemption in a Southern gothic style.

Johnny & Jenny, in all its iterations, is a testament to Williford’s evolution from a behind-the-scenes songwriter, to a compelling solo artist and creative. The album and short film showcase his ability to craft deeply personal and resonant stories, solidifying his place in the country music landscape.

Previous releases from the project include the driving, dismal “Beautiful Breakdown,” a cover of classic Motown hit “Ain’t No Mountain” (originally made famous by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell), and the album lead-off single, “Johnny,” which Billboard praised for the tune’s “destructive storyline” and “driving, rustic acoustics…” Most recently, Williford released the single “Jenny” – introducing Johnny’s counterpart who, despite the best of intentions, has made a series of bad decisions, leading to a sort of bittersweet entrapment.
