This year, Queens of the Stone Age were also nominated for Best Rock Song for “Emotion Sickness.” Meanwhile, Paramore’s “This Is Why,” is also up for Best Alternative Performance. Additionally, Foo Fighters were considered for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Rescued.” Metallica was honored in both Best Rock and Best Metal Performance categories.

Metallica has garnered multiple Grammy victories throughout their illustrious career. Their groundbreaking self-titled album, commonly known as “The Black Album,” earned them the Grammy for Best Metal Performance with the song “One” in 1990. Metallica’s dominance continued in subsequent years, with wins for Best Metal Performance in 1991 (“Stone Cold Crazy”), 1992 (“Metallica”) and 1999 (“Better Than You”). Their performance with the San Francisco Symphony for “S&M” also earned them a Grammy in 2001.

Paramore’s defining Grammy moment occurred in 2008 when their breakthrough hit “Misery Business” earned them a nomination for Best Short Form Music Video. In 2011, Paramore was spotlighted as they won the Grammy for Best Rock Song with “The Only Exception.”
