Hayley Payne is putting a fresh spin on heartbreak with her new single, “Split Ends,” out today. Blending sharp humor, country charm, and a little post-breakup freedom, the track captures the feeling of finally letting go of what’s been weighing you down — whether that’s damaged hair or a relationship that’s run its course.

LISTEN TO “SPLIT ENDS” HERE.

“I got the idea to write ‘Split Ends’ while I was on stage, of all places,” shares Hayley. “I had just gotten my hair cut after a breakup and was thinking about how good it feels to be free of that dead weight — both the hair and the guy!”

Written by Hayley Payne alongside Emma Barge and Emma Caroline, and produced by Grady Saxman (Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Dustin Lynch), “Split Ends” pulls inspiration from the bold, female-driven country music Hayley grew up watching on CMT Saturday mornings. With playful lyrics, plenty of attitude, and an undeniable sense of confidence, the song serves as a reminder that moving on can sometimes start with a small change — a new haircut, a new mindset, or finally walking away from someone who never saw your worth.

Originally from Kentucky, Hayley Payne has steadily made a name for herself with a sound rooted in traditional country storytelling, paired with quick wit and an easygoing authenticity. Her heartfelt songwriting and energetic live shows have helped her build a loyal fanbase both in Nashville and beyond. Over the years, she has shared stages with artists including Lee Ann Womack, Terri Clark, Eddie Montgomery, and Chris Janson, performing everywhere from RodeoHouston and the Bluebird Cafe to the Key West Songwriters Festival.

Her 2025 project, Cheatin’ Songs, further showcased her ability to balance vulnerability and humor, offering an honest look at heartbreak through a relatable, lighthearted lens. A CMA member and International Songwriting Competition finalist, Hayley has received support from outlets and platforms including CMT, Holler Country, Spotify, Apple Music, and CMA playlists, earning more than 2 million streams worldwide.

As she continues to build momentum in Nashville, Hayley is preparing for a milestone year ahead, with her first CMA Fest appearance and debut UK tour in 2026. She is also set to perform at CMA Fest’s Tractor Supply Spotlight Stage on Friday, June 5, with additional new music expected later this year.

“Split Ends” further highlights Hayley Payne’s natural ability to turn everyday experiences into songs that feel both personal and universally relatable, pairing humor and heart in a way that leaves listeners feeling empowered long after the final chorus.
