FIRST LOOK: Taylor-Rae’s Acoustic Reinvention of “Bittersweet”

Canadian country music standout Taylor-Rae is keeping the momentum going after the release of her emotional new single, “Bittersweet.” Known for her powerhouse vocals and heartfelt songwriting, Taylor-Rae now gives fans an even more intimate look into her artistry by releasing a brand-new acoustic video for the track.

Filmed at Blue Light Studio in Vancouver, BC, the acoustic performance features Taylor-Rae alongside guitarist Ryan Brown and background vocalists Karolyn and Adam Stanton. Stripped back and raw, the video captures a different side of the rising star — one that feels even closer to her audience.

“This video is part of a bigger project!” Taylor-Rae reveals. “We were really excited to be able to reimagine each song off of the upcoming EP.”

With a clear vision in mind, Taylor-Rae set out to create an acoustic series that brings forward elements she wouldn’t typically get to highlight in a studio recording. “I love the beautiful simplicity of an acoustic version, and we really tried to capture that,” she shares. The series leans into influences from across her musical background, pulling in gospel-style backing vocals, grand piano arrangements, and a refreshing vulnerability that showcases her voice at the forefront.

“As an artist, I’m very vocally focused,” she explains. “Taking away all the production can be a special way to bring that forward. I’ve always loved hearing an artist strip down a song and let the listener in.”

The creative team at Blue Light Studio helped Taylor-Rae bring this vision to life, crafting a setting that felt natural and authentic. Rather than choosing just a few songs for the project, Taylor-Rae decided to reimagine all four tracks from her upcoming EP, Drunk Plans, offering fans a unique version of each.

While Taylor-Rae says it’s tough to pick a favorite from the series, one song in particular stands out. “There are two videos where we were able to incorporate the ‘Love Quest Church’ choir, and that was really a dream come true for me. So I would have to say ‘Bittersweet’ is just a taste of what we’ve got coming your way!”

Following a whirlwind year filled with milestones — including multiple British Columbia Country Music Association Award wins, major festival appearances, and over 5 million streams on her EP Honest — Taylor-Rae shows no signs of slowing down. Her acoustic series is a reminder that, at the heart of her success, it’s the stories and the soul behind the songs that keep fans coming back for more.
