William Beckmann Brings the Heartache and Honky-Tonk Vibes in New Single Honky Tonk Blue
Texas-born country crooner William Beckmann is back with a brand new single that’s equal parts heartbreak and honky-tonk magic. “Honky Tonk Blue”, which dropped on March 14, delivers everything fans love about Beckmann’s signature sound—soulful storytelling, smooth vocals, and a whole lot of pedal steel.
Written by none other than Chris Stapleton and Brice Long, the song comes with a pretty cool backstory. When Beckmann first heard Stapleton’s original demo, he was struck by its stripped-down, soulful vibe. But instead of copying that feel, he decided to add his own Texas flair. “I tried to put my own spin on it and make it sound like a half-drunk Texas bar band at Gruene Hall on a Friday night,” Beckmann shared.
The track is produced by country veteran Jon Randall and it leans hard into those classic country elements—think weeping steel guitar and a melody that begs you to two-step (or maybe cry into your whiskey).
And the music video? It’s like stepping into your favorite dive bar. Beckmann and his bandmates hang out, shoot pool, and jam out in a laid-back, neon-lit setting that perfectly matches the song’s mood. It’s casual, nostalgic, and full of charm—just like the song itself.
Beckmann, who hails from Del Rio, Texas, brings more than just country to the table. His Mexican-American roots also influence his sound, adding richness and diversity to his music. Since his 2018 debut Outskirts of Town, he’s been steadily building a name for himself with his warm voice and authentic style.
He’s been hitting the road hard too, performing over 100 shows a year and sharing the stage with big names like Hank Williams Jr., Randy Rogers Band, and Parker McCollum. Up next, Beckmann will be joining McCollum for several East Coast tour stops, with more dates across Texas, Oklahoma, and Oregon on the way.
