Ellen Pompeo has been inducted as one of the newest members of the 2022 Disney Legend class.

She was honored with the prestigious title at D23 Expo. The event took place on Friday, September 9th at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. She got a little bit of help from Mickey Mouse while she signed her name on the cement and left her handprints on it.

Her former Grey’s Anatomy co-star and on-screen husband, Patrick Dempsey, who portrayed Dr. Derek Shepherd for 11 seasons, was also honored. Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Anthony Anderson, among others, were also inducted.

Ellen Pompeo: The Newest Disney Legend

After receiving her award and imprinting her hands and signature into cement, Ellen Pompeo discussed what the award of Disney Legend means to her. She joked to media outlets that she would be using the new title around her children to make them listen to her.

Additionally, Pompeo discussed what the bi-annual D23 Expo means and the fan support at an event like this.

“You know, the fans are everything,” she began. “I mean everybody has, hopefully, everybody has been to Disneyland or Disney World. When you walk around and you see the passion of the fans… it’s really quite amazing. And they bring their parents and their grandparents and their kids. It’s just a generational thing. It’s pretty cool!”
