“Honestly is what it sounds like: honest,” shares Ava. “It’s an amalgamation of the intrusive thoughts you feel when you know you will end up breaking someone’s heart. It’s raw honesty.”

Written entirely by Ava Claire and produced by Eric Arjes, Honestly is a five-song collection that explores the uncertainty, guilt, and growing pains that come with navigating relationships and early adulthood. Blending sharp lyricism with genre-defying production, the EP is led by its title track, an unfiltered reflection on the intrusive thoughts that accompany knowing you’ll eventually break someone’s heart. Alongside previously released singles “Salt Mine,” “The Sound,” and “New York,” the project introduces the new track “The Cliff,” bringing Ava’s most cohesive body of work to date.

Ava Claire has been writing songs since she was eight years old, turning childhood poems into lyrics before teaching herself guitar through YouTube. By 11, she had made her MusicRow debut at Nashville’s iconic Bobby’s Idle Hour, laying the foundation for a career centered around thoughtful, story-driven songwriting. Influenced by writers like Jason Isbell and Phoebe Bridgers, alongside the melodic sensibilities of Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, Ava has developed a style that blends vivid storytelling with emotional honesty.

Her songwriting has since earned her a trip to Hollywood Week on American Idol after receiving three “yeses” from the judges, as well as a coveted spot as one of only 11 students nationwide selected for the GRAMMY Camp Songwriter Track. Now studying songwriting at Belmont University, Ava continues to hone her craft while performing regularly at legendary Nashville venues including The Bluebird Cafe and The Listening Room Cafe.
