Exclusive Premiere: Liam Duncan “Can’t Stop Calling You Baby”

By  |

It’s about the song. It’s about the words. It’s about the feeling. You gotta chase that feeling.

Liam Duncan is obsessed with crafting songs, writing lyrics, obsessing over honesty, and making music that punches you in the gut.

At 23 years old, Liam has spent most of his musical life cutting his teeth playing keyboards with The Middle Coast, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, and The Bros Landreth.

For Liam, playing with these artists is less about playing keyboards, and more about getting inside their song writing. Taking what is useful and interesting to him, and storing the rest away.

In 2019, Liam is releasing his first full-length album ‘If I Don’t Feel Better’ – in collaboration with Howard Redekopp (Tegan & Sara, Mother Mother).

The album is a song-by-song journal of his first heartbreak. Without holding any punches, he writes about breaking somebody’s heart, breaking his own heart, struggling with obsession, depression, and moving on.

The release of his first two singles garnered features on CBC, indie88, and reviews from around the world – Idobi Radio called Liam ‘a seasoned artist – his forthcoming album might just be an instant classic’.

So far, 2019 has seen Liam playing shows coast-to-coast in Canada.

‘If I Don’t Feel Better’ is Liam’s first step into the world as a solo artist – he’ll be bringing his songs and stories to tour dates around the world in 2019 and onwards.

“Old habits die hard. When a relationship ends, you can’t call your partner ‘babe’ anymore. In fact, you can’t really call them at all anymore. When you’re used to calling someone and talking to them every day, calling them babe, and sharing all your secrets, it’s pretty hard to just turn that off. This song is about someone who can’t stop calling their ex, and also can’t stop accidentally calling them ‘baby’.”
