Review: Frozen at Paper Mill Playhouse
The North East is in for a massive winter storm. Could it have originated in Millburn, New Jersey? Specifically Paper Mill Playhouse? Specifically at Frozen the Broadway Musical by Queen Elsa of Arendelle?
Frozen at the Paper Mill Playhouse is set to be a massive winter hit! With ticket presale ques that rivaled a pop star’s area tour and already an extended run, the cold really has not bothered theater goers anyway!

Having seen the show on Broadway previously (and the movie you know maybe a thousand times), we can say this is a Broadway caliber production at a regional theater. Mary Kate Morrissey leads as our ice queen. The loudest cheers of the night all were for her and her exceptional voice. The absolute standout star of the show. Samantha Williams was beside her as Anna. Williams brought her own take on the character, garnishing lots of laughs. The only thing lacking, was the special effects the Broadway production had. That extra Disney budget had definitely assisted a major wow factor.
What the Broadway production truly lacked that soared at Paper Mill Playhouse was the immersive environment. Even before you got inside the venue, the “Igloo Bar” welcomed guests with hot specialty cocktails [Norwegian glogg, spiked hot cider, spiked hot chocolate], edible glittery mocktails, and snowman themed snacks. There was even a wooden merchandise stand and glow snowflakes.
