New Music Friday | August 30 | Victoria Monet, Noah Kahan, Zach Top, Chance the Rapper, Wyatt Flores & More
Our favorite part of the week has arrived – New Music Friday is here and this weeks new finds are packed with music for everyone! From Country to R&B, whatever genre of music you’re into, we’ve got you covered on all the new music out this week.
The first release from Victoria Monet’s upcoming deluxe version of her Grammy-winning “Jaguar II” album, includes a surprise feature from Usher. The song, “SOS (Sex on Sight),” takes us back to the ’90’s, as a classic R&B slow-jam. This song, about desire and urgency, is not the first or last of it’s kind, coming from Monet and if this song is any indication of what her new deluxe album is going to be like, we are in for even more surprises.
Noah Kahan surprised his listeners with a new album “Live From Fenway Park.” Kahan performed a two night show at Fenway Park in July, the biggest headlining show of his entire career, and the album is a recording of these two sold-out shows. The album includes already released music from his “Stick Season (Forever)” album as well as an unreleased duet between him and Gracie Abrams, “Pain Is Cold Water.” Kahan tells his listeners to “listen to the greatest two nights of my life, as I sit here and hope that this live album is enough to accurately paint the picture.”
Country’s up and coming Ashley Anne, released a new song this week called “Don’t Ruin This Record For Me.” Getting inspiration from a personal place in her life where she navigated a new relationship, Ashley wrote down the song title after a trip back to Nashville after a holiday break. Gifting herself a Lumineers record, she worried it might be scratched. Ashley kept thinking about it, and the song was born!
Payton Smith’s “Hold That Thought,” is about how time moves by too fast and it’s easy to lose track of it. Smith wrote this song about slowing down, reflecting and holding onto memories that you’ve made in your life, remembering the good parts of life when life may not be so good.
Cody Cozz’s new single, “Where I’ve Been Lately,” is about growing up and finding your way in the world while never forgetting where you come from. It’s an homage to your roots while simultaneously chasing your dreams of a bigger future.
Chance the Rapper drops new single titled “3333” this week, referencing the amount of tickets he sold at a recent gig at the Minnesota State Fair, which houses about 14,000 seats. Although he was asked if wanted to cancel the gig, the rapper did not let the small ticket sales deter him from putting on a performance for the people who did want to see him. “3333” paints a scene of the rapper just being happy to perform for a living, regardless of if it’s for one person or thousands.
But, these aren’t the only artists that dropped new music this week. Music from Kehlani, Lil Tecca, Daniel Seavy, Halle, Carter Faith, James Bay and more artists is out now! Thanks to these talented artists must-listen music is at your fingertips.
