Chances are you’ve watched NBC’s The Voice, even with being on the show Melanie Martinez is paving her own way in the music industry.  Season 3 Melanie was on Team Adam and auditioned with her remarkable rendition of Toxic by Brittney Spears.  She did more than did the song justice, she did better than the original, and hearing it live was somehow better than the recorded version.  My videographer, intern, and I all arrived at Schuba’s to a line of fans waiting inside to meet Miss. Melanie.

One thing I admired about Melanie is the fact she gave so much time to her fans.  She drew candy and autographed anything the fans had.  It was really cool to see her interact with her eclectic fan base.  She had an eight year old to a fifty year old couple at the show, which not many performers can say they have.   We went to do the interview after her meet and greet, by the time we left the area there was a line of people out the door into the cold Chicago winter outside waiting for show time.

I personally was a fan of Melanie’s since her appearance on The Voice, I was actually nervous for an interview.  Luckily Melanie was extremely down to earth and hilarious! Not to mention her style is so unique and adorable!  She is really a class act and even met fans that came late for her meet and greet after our interview, I was impressed!

With her first tour under her belt and her last show of the year, she brought it.   I was so glad that this was an acoustic tour, you can really hear her raw vocals and subtle changes to covers she performed.  She performed her original material as well; I was impressed by “Curly Cue”.  Her stage presence makes it feel like you’re the only person there and you truly get lost in her performance.  The crowd even participated quite a bit.  Her debut music video and single Dollhouse will be out in the new year, stay tuned!
