Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Yungblud, and Nuno Bettencourt Perform Ozzy Osbourne Medley at 2025 VMAs: WATCH

Ozzy Osbourne was memorialized at the 2025 MTV VMAs with a performance from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, YUNGBLUD, and Nuno Bettencourt.

The 2025 MTV VMAs were held at UBS Arena in New York, hosted by LL Cool J. The rockers came together for a once-in-a-lifetime performance honoring the legendary “Prince of Darkness” with a medley of Ozzy’s greatest hits.

The performance began with a shirtless Yungblud in the audience singing “Crazy Train.” He ran into the stage where Nuno was already playing the guitar to the smash hit. The stage included stained glass imagery and candelabras. Yungblud transitioned into performing “Changes,” alongside fireworks and a neon cross.

Joe Perry and Steven Tyler joined Yungblud on the catwalk to perform “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

Ozzy, who passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, was remembered by Aerosmith. The band released a statement that called him a “voice that changed music forever.

“From Black Sabbath to his solo work, Ozzy redefined what it meant to be heavy. He did it all with heart, grit, and that wild spirit only he could bring,” Aerosmith stated. “Our love goes out to Sharon, his family, his band, and the millions around the world who felt his fire.”

Ozzy Osbourne and His Past Work With The VMA Performers

Ozzy Osbourne has worked with these VMAs performers over the years. Although Aerosmith and Black Sabbath are legendary names in rock, they never officially recorded a collaboration. However, Steven Tyler performed at Ozzy’s final show in Birmingham, England. He sung “The Train Kept A-Rollin” and a cover of “Whole Lotta Love” originally sung by Led Zeppelin. Steven and Ozzy have both previously performed in the Hollywood band Camp Freddy.

Meanwhile, Nuno performed with Ozzy in addition to performing with his band, Extreme. Nuno first auditioned for Ozzy’s band at the age of 15, back in 1982. Unfortunately, Brad Gillis filled the role. In 1994 Nuno was supporting Aerosmith on tour when Ozzy made the offer to him to become his lead guitarist. He declined the offer to continue the tour with Extreme.

Yungblud credits Ozzy as one of his biggest inspirations. He was also present at Ozzy’s final show and fundraiser. Yungblud performed for a sold out crowd and gifted Ozzy a very special necklace backstage. Additionally, for his “Funeral” music video, Yungblud was able to feature cameos from Sharon, Kelly, and Ozzy in the visual.
