Jake Burger’s Lucky Classic to Bring Music and Baseball Together in Nashville

By  |

The Burger Family Foundation, founded by Texas Rangers infielder Jake Burger and his wife Ashlyn, is gearing up for its next big swing: The Lucky Classic, a star-studded celebrity softball game set for November 16 at First Horizon Park.

This one-of-a-kind event will blend the best of sports, music, and philanthropy, uniting country music favorites with some of Major League Baseball’s brightest stars. Country hitmakers Russell Dickerson, Ashley Cooke, and Tucker Wetmore are the latest additions to the stacked lineup, joining MLB All-Stars Corey Seager, Brandon Lowe, Brent Rooker, and Bryan Reynolds, with even more names to be announced soon.

Fans can expect a night of unforgettable entertainment, with live music, big-league talent, and a celebration of community all taking center stage.

A Game With Purpose

For Jake and Ashlyn Burger, The Lucky Classic is more than just an event—it’s an extension of their family’s mission. Inspired by their daughter Penelope, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, the couple launched The Burger Family Foundation to champion inclusion, celebrate abilities, and support families through financial assistance, therapy, and community-focused programs.

“Ashlyn and I couldn’t be more excited to bring The Lucky Classic to Nashville this off-season,” Jake shared. “This city is home for us, and we wanted to create something that blends our two worlds, music and baseball, while giving back to a community we love. The outpouring of support for The Burger Family Foundation and the Down syndrome community has already been incredible, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the ballpark for a day of fun, connection, and unforgettable memories.”

Jake Burger’s Story of Faith, Family, and Resilience

Jake Burger’s advocacy for the Down Syndrome community has been deeply personal. When his daughter Penelope was diagnosed, Jake immediately dedicated his platform to raising awareness. In a powerful gesture, he changed his Rangers jersey to number 21—a tribute to Trisomy 21, the genetic condition tied to Down Syndrome.

His commitment made headlines earlier this year when, fresh from Penelope’s successful open-heart surgery, he hit his first home run with the Rangers—Penelope’s hospital band still wrapped around his wrist.

For the Burgers, faith and family are central. They embraced Penelope’s diagnosis during pregnancy, trusting their journey had a greater purpose: to share her story, advocate for all children with disabilities, and build a stronger sense of belonging for families like theirs.
