The Maine Debut ‘Half a Spark’ Single and Music Video: WATCH

By  |

The Maine is back and better than ever with their latest single, “Half a Spark,” and tenth studio album, Joy Next Door.

The five-piece band not only released their tenth LP, but also released “Half a Spark,” including a visual to accompany its release. Both the record and song quickly earned widespread acclaim from fans. The band previously released three singles, leading up to the album release: ‘Palms,’ ‘Die To Fall‘ and ‘Quiet Part Loud.’

The record is arguably some of their best work yet. The record follows an overarching storyline throughout the tracklist, so be sure to listen to it in its intended order. Musically, it is right up their fans’ alley, but with a new added flair that gets your head bobbing.

“I wanted to make an album that felt like the exact moments I had been wandering in for the better part of the last two years,” O’ Callaghan said of the record. “And for the first time I wanted to speak as honestly as possible without being dramatic. ‘Joy Next Door’ isn’t about a crisis or a breakthrough, but more about a rather specific in-between, which is odd considering it’s our tenth studio album. And though it can’t guarantee happiness, I hope it’s a reminder that it’s more often than not closer than we think. Or at the very least, it gives you permission to sit in your own in-between without the worry of labeling it as good or bad.”

Half a Spark Lyrics:

Bad bad

Kerouac brat

In your latex

Had that

Honey whiplash

Used to break necks

On fire

Oh no

Head full of smoke

Nowadays

Wear a straight face

And you play safe

You say

10 is too late

For a jailbreak

I’ll make the time stop wasting away

Aren’t you tired of the view where you are?

You want a little more than a spark

(Don’t you)

Don’t you

Wanna

Light up?

Running wild was a walk in the park

You wanna burn it all in the dark

(Don’t you)

Know you

Wanna

Light up

Don’t you?

Downtown

After sundown

Was a jungle

Mad loud

Only made out

Seeing double

Oh my

It was

A little high head rush

These days

It’s a rat race

In a tame place

Straight-lace

Turning daft things

Into plain Jane’s

Let’s make the time stop wasting away

Nice time

For a joy ride

And I know this

Night might

Be the last night

We could burn just

Let me, let you, be my nothing to lose
