ALBUM REVIEW | Wishbone – Conan Gray

By  |

Wishbone is Conan Gray‘s fouth studio album where he returns to warmer sounds produced by Dan Nigro, Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Elvira Anderfjärd, and Luka Kloser.

Written over the past two years on tour and at home, this project reflects Gray’s personal experiences, self-discovery, and emotional highs and lows.

Singles like “This Song,” “Vodka Cranberry,” and “Caramel” explore those themes with honesty, opening what he calls the most authentic chapter of his career.

With songs like the melancholic opening track “Actor” and the upbeat dance-pop “My World” you can tell this album can be blasted on a summer road trip. The 26-year-old, known for his poetic writing style, references Shakespeare in the heartbreaking song, “Romeo”, that blends pop sounds with theatrical lyrics.

On Wishbone, he adds a soft, acoustic touch with tracks like the thematic “Class Clown,” “Connell,” and “Nauseous,” in which the lyrics focus on navigating the fear of love, childhood scars, and heartbreaks.

In the final three songs – “Sunset Tower,” “Eleven Eleven,” and “Care,” the 26-year-old reflects on faith and self-discovery, capturing the bittersweet feeling of summer coming to an end.

Conan Gray is set to start his new “The Wishbone Pajamas” world tour, this Sunday August 24th, 2025 at the Reeding Festival in Reeding, UK, ending it on October 19th, 2025 in Mexico.
