EXCLUSIVE: Lotus Blossom on Netflix’s We Can Be Heroes

By  |

Lotus Blossom stars in the upcoming Netflix film We Can Be Heroes showing the children of superheroes like Sharkboy and Lavagirl saving their parents!

What can you tell us about your character in Netflix’s We Can Be Heroes?
In We Can Be Heroes, I play the character Acapella. Her superpower is her singing voice. She can hit extremely high notes, beyond human hearing, and she can create vibrations that move objects, and people, when she sings really low notes. Acapella is the daughter of the Heroic Mrs. Vox, played by Haley Reinhart.

What was your experience like working opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Pedro Pascal?
It was cool. I didn’t have too many scenes with them, but they both seemed to be nice people. Ms. Priyanka surprised the kids with an ice cream truck on set with flavors based on and named after all of our characters! It was so sweet and the ice cream was delicious!

Had you seen before filming Sharkboy and Lava Girl or the Spy Kids films?
Sharkboy and Lavagirl were such a big part of my childhood, I have seen that move a million times! I love it so much, and we got to watch Spy Kids 3 with Robert after filming one day in Texas, which was super neat!

You also will star in Magic Max next year. What can you tell us about it?
Magic Max is an independent, family movie, starring Parker Bates from This Is Us. Tim, played by Parker, loses both of his parents and has to go live with his uncle.

Do you have a dream role?
Yes! My role in We Can Be Heroes is truly a dream role. It was so incredible getting to work with Robert Rodriguez and the amazing cast and crew! The movie has action, adventure, and is lots of fun. Filming was such a blast and I learned so much!

When did you realize you want to be an actress?
I grew up watching my dad, Ernie Reyes Jr, in his films like The Last Dragon, Surf Ninjas, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Rundown, and always wanted to be just like him. It seemed so natural to follow in my dad’s footsteps.

How do you balance school and work?
I balance school and work very carefully. When we’re on set, we do school in between shooting scenes, and when I’m not on set, I do school online.

What have you been watching and reading and listening to during the pandemic?
I recently started watching American Horror Stories, I am reading a book currently called George, and I have been listening to a lot of Jimi Hendrix. I am now beginning to learn my first song on the bass, Hey Joe.
