Tim McGraw is about to release his 14th Studio Album ‘Damn Country Music’ in just a few weeks! It seems McGraw can’t put out albums fast enough! He has released a full length studio album every year since 2012! The man is unstoppable and so are his hits! With 54 top 10 hits and 35 #1 singles, it’s no wonder McGraw is one of the most beloved and sought after Country Music Icons.

His latest single, the title track of his album set to release November 6 ‘Damn Country Music’ is one he tells RollingStone:

It speaks to a passion and being at a crossroads in your life when you make that decision to pursue it knowing you might pay a heavy price.

‘Damn Country Music’ showcases all the things that artists pursing Country Music, or music in general, have gone through to pursue their dreams. The video displays his personal crew along with other hard working woman and men doing every day tasks of putting together a show, with the lyrics to the song written on their white t-shirts. McGraw also appears in the video as he’s getting ready to perform another concert.

The song is definitely one that resonates well with just about every artists. There are all sacrifices that have to be made, there is constantly traveling and compromises that get made to keep the dream alive. The bigger the artist, the less those compromises have to be, but it doesn’t make it any easier to be away from family, often putting a strain on relationships.

Fans can appreciate this song because it shows a vulnerable side to McGraw and allows them to truly think about all that goes into being an artist. For those who have reached the big leagues, yes the money might by nice and the big homes and fancy cars, but there are still sacrifices that we can never understand. For most artists, they might never make it there. They will travel to gigs in a tight packed van, making little to no money, but they do it because that’s what the love.

Lyrics:

I packed it all on a whim

Threw an old Hank cassette tape in

Dad’s 84 rusty Ford

He swore we’d never make it

I quit my job

Let my momma down

Broke an Angel’s heart

On the way out of town

Pulled my roots from the ground

For the Hum

The wheels on the blacktop

The strum

The strings on a flattop

It’s a neon fever

For a small town dreamer

Tells you everything you have is worth losing

Damn country music

You might get lost in the lights

Things that keep you up all night

Whisky straight at 3am

Chasing songs in your head

It’s the sweetest highs

The lowest lows

It’s needing yes

And hearing no

Just another soul sold

Believe me I know

The Hum

The wheels on the blacktop

The strum

The strings on a flattop

It will take you

Break you

Damn sure make you do things

You’d never thought you’d be doing

Damn Country Music

When the money, the fame

The lights on your name

All fade away

Will you still be a slave to

The Hum

The wheels on the blacktop

The strum

The strings on a flattop

It’s a neon fever

For a small town dreamer

Tells you everything you have is worth losing

Damn country music
