Our Exclusive Chat with Girl Wilde

By  |

Girl Wilde just released her debut EP Probably Crying on October 11. It is super relatable so we HAD to chat with her on it all.

What was the recording process like for your new EP?
We usually track as we write and that’s my favorite, especially when I’m cutting a vocal. I love to feel the intensity of what I’m writing while I’m still in that mindset.

Do you have a set songwriting structure?
I don’t. Every song gets written differently. It’s about what feels right in that moment and I believe that’s the best way to translate my emotion.

What do you hope listeners take away from the EP?
I hope that it can help other people feel confident about themselves.

Can we expect an LP in the future?
YES!

Why is mental health awareness so important to you?
I have struggled with my mental health my entire life. I have been deemed over-emotional, too sensitive, “crazy.” I don’t think it’s fair that there is this stigma around mental health and feeling too much. I just want other people to know that they aren’t alone.

What advice would you give to someone who is suffering from anxiety and or depression?
Talk to someone! I know it’s hard to open up, especially when maybe you’ve tried and didn’t get a good reaction. Chat with a counselor, a therapist, a support group, or open up to a friend. Finding a safe space can make the world of a difference.

Is there opportunity to perform your new music live?
Yes! My EP release show was October 14th at Harvard & Stone in LA.

What’s your biggest goal in life?
My biggest goal in life is creating a safe haven at my shows for kids and adults and everyone in between.
