Jazmine Sullivan & H.E.R. Team Up For “Girl Like Me”

For her first album in six years, singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan has teamed up with H.E.R. on the track “Girl Like Me”.

The two powerful vocalists have joined forces for a haunting track that deals with the heartbreak and insecurities people feel after their partner cheats and leaves them. “Now I sit at home judgin’ my body / Wondering what I did to lose you,” the duo sings on the guitar-backed track.

The neo-soul singer emerged back in 2008 with her debut studio album Fearless. Although her career was rocked by several years-long hiatus, her fanbase pulled through and supported her all the way. Their perseverance will be rewarded this Friday Jan. 8th, when the singer releases her much-awaited new album Heaux Tales, via RCA. The new effort follows her 2015 release Reality Show.

Sullivan’s first album in six years also features her most recent highly praised singles “Lost One” and “Pick Up You Feelings,” as well as collaborations with Ari Lennox and Anderson .Paak.

“The truth is, women of all ages have been called a ‘heaux’ at some point in life, whether deserved or not, by some man trying to put us in our place; a place designed to keep us under control, out of the way and usually beneath them,” Jazmine Sullivan shared about her upcoming record. “Women are over feeling ashamed about the decision we have made, or chose to make, in regards to our bodies.”
