Interview with Jordyn Mallory!

By  |

We got to chat with rising singer-songwriter, Jordyn Mallory, on her music video, performing at CMA Fest, and more. Check it out below!

Angela: Your music video for “Boat Friend” is having huge success, making you a top trending artist on CMT. What was the filming process like for the music video?

Jordyn: “I put the video together by myself in two weeks. It is really complicated to film a summer video before summer. We filmed it in the beginning of April. Filming was so early and went pretty late. The first scene was shot at 7 am, so it was super cold. I think it was 37 degrees. It got a little hotter as the day went on, but it was so cold at first. I have really sweet friends who helped me film the video and I think they had fun with it.”

Angela: You have opened for so many amazing artists, such as Loretta Lynn, Emerson Drive, Jake Owen, and more. What artists do you hope to open up for in the future?

Jordyn: “I want to meet Faith Hill, but since she isn’t really doing anything right now, I think it would be really cool to open up for Carrie Underwood or Florida Georgia Line because their fans seem to be so dedicated and so into the shows. I really feel like that would be cool. Plus after i’m done performing, I would get to do some pretty sweet homework and learn from watching them.”

Angela: You were on the eleventh season of American Idol. Was that process everything you expected or was it completely different?

Jordyn: “It was definitely not what i expected. The American Idol process is so crazy, but it was so much fun. I learned so much from that experience. It made me want to work harder and step up my game. It was really great, but not what you would think. It’s a lot of no sleeping and constantly on the go.”

Angela: You performed at CMA Fest this year. What was that experience like?

Jordyn: “We really had a great CMA Fest. I got to play the Music City Center Stage in the Vistor’s Center. I would say I got lucky because I got to play inside.”

Angela: I think the coolest part about CMA Fest is getting to connect with your fans. Are there any fan moments that stick out the most?

Jordyn: “I was in the convention center walking around the first day of CMA Fest. I was just being a fan because I like to walk around and see what other people are doing. I like to see what I can learn from other artists because obviously they are doing something right. I was in the convention center and some girl ran up to me and said “Jordyn, can we get a picture with you?” It was so crazy because that kind of a thing does not happen a lot for me. It doesn’t really happen ever honestly. It’s really cool seeing people come up to me at shows saying they saw the “Boat Friend” music video. Being in the beginning stages of my career, it’s really cool to see people know the songs.”

Angela: If money was no object, and you could create any fan party of your choice, what would it be?

Jordyn: “If money was no object, I would want to fly all of my fans to a beach. A very pretty beach. Let’s say Cabo. I would buy the biggest boat that I can and throw the best part ever.”

Angela: You will be heading to California this summer with Country Rebel. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Jordyn: “I just recently met the Country Rebel guys in Key West and they are so cool and so much fun. My friends Stephen and Eric from Love and Theft introduced me to those guys and I’m so happy they introduced us because Country Rebel has shared so many of my videos. It’s so cool to see how many people have seen the videos and they will come to my page and follow me. I’m so appreciative of those guys for sharing my stuff.”
