EXCLUSIVE: Garfield Wilson on Season 2 of Snowpiercer

By  |

Season 2 of TNT’s original series Snowpiercer just premiered this past Monday, and what a season premiere it was! We caught up with actor Vancouver-based Garfield Wilson (Jackboot Kaffey) to chat about this upcoming season.

Stage Right Secrets | What can you tell us about season 2 of Snowpiercer?
Garfield Wilson | Season 2 will be even more epic/edge of your seat than Season 1! Picking up where we ended Season 1 with the reveal of Mr. Wilford, it doesn’t slow down for a second.

If there is a season 3, how would you want to see your character grow?
I would love to see Jackboot Kaffey become a leader.

You’re also starring in a new Lorne Michaels musical comedy this year. What can you spill on that?
I honestly can’t say too much, but what I can say is it’s unlike any project I’ve ever been on!

Do you have a favorite musical? A dream role?
Favourite musical would be HAMILTON! Dream role: Anything opposite Viola Davis.

Also upcoming is your series on Nickelodeon, The Astronauts. What was it like working with Star Trek franchise veteran Jonathan Frakes? One of the best Directors I’ve ever worked with. He has such an amazing way with his actors. I was also geeking out a little as I was a huge fan of Star Trek: Next Generation!

Why is the LGBTQ+ community so important to you?
I grew up very often being the only black kid in my class and being made very aware that I was different. My oldest daughter is transgender, she is my hero and I will always stand up for the disenfranchised and marginalized.

What advice would you give to yourself eight years ago when your daughter transitioned?
As you were! You’re going to do right by your daughter and inspire many to follow suit.

What have you been listening to, reading, and watching during quarantine?
I’ve been reading “A Promised Land” – Barack Obama. I’ve been listening to mix of Stevie Wonder, Queen, Alicia Keys, Prince and Chris Cornell and I’ve been watching a variety of shows/movies like; Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Boys, The Ozark’s, The Undoing and The Queen’s Gambit
