EXCLUSIVE: Country Music Singer-Songwriter Cody Belew Drops Soulful Cover Of “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere”

By  |

The Voice Top 8 finalist and an Arkansas native, Cody Belew shared an exclusive first listen of his twangy, blues-infused single, “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere.” Belew was inspired to record his own take on the Dwight Yoakam classic and draws influences in his original sound from his love of deeply rooted Southern music and the various styles and cultures, encapsulated in the gritty, soulful textures in his rendition of the song. Pulling from various genres of bluegrass, blues, cajun and country music, Cody is trailblazing his own sound in country music and is undoubtedly a star on the rise.

I got heartaches in my pocket // I got echoes in my head //
And all that I keep hearing // Are the cruel things that you said //
I’m a thousand miles from nowhere
