Cobra Starship: Back in Action

By  |

How excited is everyone for Monday? I know, that’s something that nobody really says.  This Monday is different because Cobra Starship will premiere their new single “Never Been in Love” featuring Icona Pop.  We haven’t heard from Cobra Starship in a while, their last album released almost 3 years ago.  I’m sure this new single will be as catchy and dance friendly as all of Cobra’s hits.
Starting up in 2005, singer Gabe Saporta, went to on a desert mind adventure and came up with the idea of Cobra Starship and the synthpop music that he would soon turn into an album While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Streets.  Soon he got the opportunity to take part of “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) which landed Cobra Starship into the eyes pop punk teens.
Then came iViva La Cobra! in 2007 and I will never get over how much I love this album.  With so many hit songs Cobra Starship started to create a large fan base, especially at Warped Tour in 2008 while touring along side The Academy Is… and Gym Class Heroes.  The album was beautifully produced by Fall Out Boy vocalist, Patrick Stump, and sold over 40,000 copies.
Next came Hot Mess which was a huge success and really launched the band into the big time.  Not only did they tour the US with 21 stops, they also helped the band The Audition make it’s place in the music scene by holding a contest and having fans vote on what band should open for them.  Cobra Starship also went on their first European tour stopping in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, and the Netherlands.  They also went to Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
Their latest album Night Shades has their hit “You Make Me Feel…” featuring Sabi, reached the number 50 spot on the Billboard 200 the first week it was released, later reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.  Night Shades had wonderful guest artists such as Sabi, the Plasticines, and Mac Miller.
With all this waiting I am so excited for this song to premiere.  Once the song premieres hopefully the band will give us all news about an album and a tour!  Until then, keep those fangs up.
