Bonnie McKee Responds To Jonas Brothers Tour Cancelation

By  |

MTV posted Bonnie McKee’s reaction to the Jonas Brothers canceling their tour. Read below.

“When the Jonas Brothers canceled their fall tour, it wasn’t just fans who were surprised by the trio’s last-minute decision. “American Girl” singer Bonnie McKee was slated to tour with them. Her bags were packed when she got word that the show was definitely not going to hit the road.

“I was completely surprised; it was literally the day before. All of our stuff had been shipped to the East Coast [for the first show in Pennsylvania]; all of our tickets were booked. We had a bus. We had been rehearsing 10 hours a day, every day, for two weeks. It was a huge shock,” she told MTV News, adding, “They had been in rehearsals literally days before. Everything was on course and fine, so I don’t know. I really don’t know what happened.”

The guys had cited “a deep rift within the band” as a reason for the canceled gigs. But if you’re looking for more information than that, McKee doesn’t know what exactly the internal strife is.

“Not all is lost and I hope that the Jonas Brothers work it out,” she said. “I don’t really know exactly what went down, but I know that everyone’s kind of at odds. So I hope that they work it out because I think they’re very talented.”

Regardless of the hiccup, McKee sees the cancellation on the bright side. So as the JoBros are asking their fans to “please hold while we get our sh— together,” McKee is already looking forward to her next gig.

“Everyone was really disappointed, and it happens, but I have a great show now. So I’m really excited I got something ready,” she said. Bonnie will open for Katy Perry at Los Angeles‘ Hollywood Bowl for a breast cancer benefit on Wednesday (October 23) and go on tour for Jingle Ball throughout December.

“You know, I’m gonna still get some great shows out of all these rehearsals that I did,” she said. “I’m really excited to get back on stage and play it live for people.”

McKee is also prepping her debut album. She recently dropped her video for the darker, glitchier “Sleepwalker.” The track, on which she gets some help from her producer/musician boyfriendimage Oliver “Oligee” Goldstein and Boyz Noise, shows off another side of her pop persona. However, she thinks her album will fall more on the side of her peppy anthem, “American Girl.”

“I think that more of the album is brighter and summery and big splashy pop, so I’d say more on the brighter end of the spectrum right now, but a lot of them have a dark undertone,” she said. “Nothing is purely sugar-coated and saturated. It’s all got a little hint of darkness underneath it.””
